America The Beautiful.
As I sit on the front porch with my fiance and my brother-in-law, Old Glory waving in the wind, sun shining down and a cold beer in hand I can't help but think of all the sacrifices those who serve have made and continue to make in order for this moment to be possible.
A handful of neighbors, a few hot grills and some fucking meat. It's Memorial Day.
Now I don't particularly care what your stance is on war and/or violence. I think it's safe to say we're all on the same page when it comes to peace over conflict but none of us lives in a perfect world, do we? So instead of worrying about which side of the isle is squawking about what why don't we pay respect to those that actually matter?
There's a direct correlation to my free will to write what I want to write and live how I prefer to live and it traces back to decisions made by brave men and women who VOLUNTEER their lives to defend our freedom. There will never be a collection of words powerful enough to honor the bravery mustered by those who protect and serve this great Nation.
I won't begin to attempt adding those words together just I as will never again take what they have sacrificed for you and I for granted. Remember these fine individuals. Remember their willingness to serve while you're complaining about the line at the grocery store. Remember their commitment to this country while you're whining about your dead-end job. I know I've had to remind myself that there are bigger issues circulating the earth than my fucking poor wi-fi connection.
I'm American. YOU, are American. It can hold all sorts of meaning for all sorts of folks. But no matter the interpretation., remember ONE thing....you are FREE.
Those men and women serving on the front line are the exact reason we are free. Honor them, respect them and GOD BLESS THE USA.
